Berkeley FrameNet website moving out of ICSI

For more than twenty years, the FrameNet research project was hosted at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI), an independent research institution in Berkeley, California. This means that our public website was hosted on machines maintained by ICSI, and our databases and software, including text annotation and data distribution systems, were also running on servers located at ICSI. However, ICSI now plans to change with the times and move almost all its research projects onto cloud hosts, eliminating the need to maintain most of the computer hardware now at ICSI. Therefore, the FrameNet project is also in the process of finding suitable hosting elsewhere; we expect to move to cloud hosting, but this may be a gradual process.

Our colleagues at FrameNet Brasil, headquartered at Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF), kindly offered to recreate the current Berkeley website at UFJF and host it publicly. The FrameNet URL "http://framenet.icsi.berkeley.edu" has been redirected to point to the new website, which is currently at http://berkeleyfn.framenetbr.ufjf.br/. The content is now almost completely recreated, and we will make every effort to make this a smooth transition, but the change-over may result in parts of the public website being unavailable at some times, a temporary website appearing in its place, and delays in responding to requests for downloads of the FrameNet lexical database. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
